I don't think I ever tried Bomes, though I have seen others mention it. Glad to hear that it works with your setup.

As for Steem, I don't even know if I still have it. Just for the fun of it, if I can find it I will give it a try.  The one thing I remember doing is creating patch names with reverse characters. I am not sure if I used Steem for that or just edited each patch by hand in Window's "debug" utility. I seem to recall that the VZ character set includes some Japanese characters as well as a complete set of reverse English characters.
