Re: VZ-10M correct Sysex settings

Nice that you shared those steps. (I have the VZ-8m, so its similar.) The settings are really random, though if you haven't done it in a while, the cheat sheet helps. But if you loose the cheat sheet, knowing what the functions do will help you to reconstruct the proper setup.

Here's what the settings are on the VZ-8m:
The EXCLUSIVE parameter lets you tell the VZ to ignore sysex commands (DIS) or to pay attention to them (ENA).
The MEM PROTECT parameter lets you tell the VZ to reject (ON) or accept (OFF) changes to memory (stored patches, etc.)
As for LOAD, you need to match the data type (VOICE, OPMEM, VC+OP, FULL) you are trying to load.
And, as you discovered, the midi channel also has to match the file.

Here are the error messages I have been getting when sending VZ sysex
data to the VZ-8m. (See my previous message about channel and data
type matching.)
---------------------------------------------------------------
Message: --TRANS ERROR--- | CHECK SYSTEM!
Problem: Data channel <> VZ receive channel
Solution: Change VZ channel to match sysex file data.

Message: --MIDI ERROR--- | RECEIVE ERROR
Problem: Data type transmitted <> Data type expected
Solution: Select proper data type when loading data type into VZ.
---------------------------------------------------------------

I remember when it was a mystery because I didn't understand what the parameters did. And of course, I keep going back to the cheat sheet myself when I have been away from using the VZ.

02 MEM PROTECT - Switch INTERNAL to OFF
04 MIDI CHANNEL - Set midi channel to channel of data
05 MIDI DATA - Switch ECLUSIVE to ENA [enabled]
03 SAVE/LOAD - LOAD/SAVE > MIDI > [data type] > YES, YES

Note: It seems that data type must be matched. In order to
sucessfully load data that was stored as Voice + Op-Mem data, I had
to set up the VZ to accept that type of data.

Look similar?

Anyhow--Welcome to the wonderful world of the VZ!!
