VZ-10m and SysEx.

VZ-10m and SysEx.

2015-02-23 by Nic Brennan

Hi Folks,

I'm new the to the group. I have a question regarding sending SysEx
patches to my VZ-10m.

I am using SysEx librarian on my mac but having no joy sending file to
the 10m.

Does anyone have any advice they can share. I would be very grateful.

Thanks for your time.

Cheers,

Nic.

In the main group (CZsynth) I and others have written about doing VZ sysex--particularly bulk data dumps (sending and receiving). I created a table based on the VZ-8m that basically showed VZ error messages and the solutions (that is, the error messages on the VZ when attempting to send data to it). I also tried to explain the basics of the VZ's sysex commands. Someone else in the group compiled this with other info about VZ data transfers.

I am not sure if this link will work. If not, go to the main group, look under Files, and then in the folder VZ - Docs. Look for VZ sysex infos (from archived messages).

Hope this helps.

Steve

I am having a hell of a time trying to sending voice sysex to my VZ-10M. I'm trying to throttle down midiox and Bome's sendsx but so far no joy. I would have like to take a look at this document, but the link doesn't work.

(1) Did you get the transfers to work yet?

(2) If not, did you find the doc phonophobe pieced together and posted in the Files section of the main group?

I just opened it up using WordPad. IIRC I contributed some of the material phonophobe compiled and might be able to help. I have a dead battery in a VZ-8m and know I successfully sent data to the VZ--probably sometime within the past year or two.

If you haven't gotten it working yet, pay attention to the error messages. I found the specific working helpful in setting things up properly.

IIRC I used a sequencer that has the ability to send sysex files as banks. I probably used a version of Cakewalk software.) If you still need help, I can try it with MidiOx.

Steve

PS: Also, more recently someone created an on-line VZ voice editor. I believe it was hosted on his website. I know I tested it and gave feedback which was used to make some improvements. If that's still available, perhaps you could use that to load VZ banks and send them to the VZ.

Move to quarantaine

This moves the raw source file on disk only. The archive index is not changed automatically, so you still need to run a manual refresh afterward.
