Hi. Last night, few beers, great Idea: Some EL-plate (red, exactly!! - from my FZ-session) left, fits perfect for the CZ-1 no Idea what to do the evening; My CZs lite was still there, but uncool... Lets do something different. Opened the CZ-1, unscrewing, unplugging all cables, looking for the display. found it :-) Surprice surprise: Very different to the FZs display Casio used ³Zebras² (thats how they¹re called in Germany) at the displayboard to the LCD-Screen. Very unfair, very hardcore! Zebras are gum/ silicone-contacts (Z-position) placed right on the contacts to the screen; Below that, theres the EL-plate (fixed with glue). Ok. Dissambled Oh boy! Did not knew what I was doing there... Soldered the new EL-plate; lightening red (dont ask why it does in the CZ) BUT: No message from the Display... Nothing! Checked the cables, the display, power (forgot something no). Finally i touched the LCD. Ahhh... Words!. So what was wrong? The zebras! They have to be in eaxact position like before. 100%. Done. And: nothing. Huh? To make it short: The DISPLAY-holder (metal plate) that fixes the display must press the Zebras down to get the full contact from the board.... Unbelieveable. Sick. Cheap. Stupid. If the brackets (6 of them) on the backside of the holder break when you disassemble, your display is lost! completly! So be careful when you do this to your CZ. finally I made itwork; some pix of the full procedure are on my site. They¹re JPgs and stuffed as .sit (StuffitExpander will open it my zipper is down, sorry) - about 380 kb) Download it, have a look, and: HAPPY HALLOWEEN (yes, i know; I¹m late -----) but my CZ will have Halloween 4 the rest of his life...
