Well, faders starts to get oxidated over time. But you might try to check out the internal relay first, I had similar problems when those got brocken. That relay prevent the synth from plopping when turned on, so if the synth is working better when in some occassions, for instance after the synth is running for some time or if you repeatingly turn it on/off, you might have to replace or at least to bridge the relay like I did.
