Casio CZ/ VZ/ FZ - Pro Series

Perhaps the cheapest way is with a Thru Box.  Casio had the TB-1: 2 
ins 8 outs -- with manual switches that sent bogus midi data when you 
switched them.  But, if you can find one, you will have the ability to 
send either of two midi outs to 8 midi ins. I haven't seen any on e-
bay, but I think fair market value should be about $5-10 with about 
$5.00 in shipping. 

A few years ago I priced midi routers. An 8 x 8 parallel port MOTU 
unit was going for about $75 - $80. (The usb version was considerably 
moe.) 

Years ago, I did a real cheapy thing.  I made a midi Y cord. (I did it 
so I could have both a keyboard (CZ-5000) and a Commodore 64 going 
into a Roland MT-32.  As long as only one was sending midi signal at a 
time, it worked.  Otherwise the midi pulses got messed up.

With some opto-isolators and hardware, you could probably build a thru 
box.  I'm not sure how much parts would be though.

I picked up a peavey midi manager on e-bay but the screen is a bit dim-
-readable, but my eyesight is not as good as it used to be.  I think 
that has the ability to function as a thru box (with other 
programability, too). (Not sure how much I paid for it or if I am 
going to try to use it; but I might be interested in selling it. If 
you want go to the peavey website and check out the manual.)

Other companies made thru boxes that may be available, too.
