Re: [CZsynth] FM Synthesis

2001-04-19 by Summa

Hi Adam,

I think I should join your list...

Btw. the FM Synthesis used in the DX isn't realy FM it's Phase Modulation
and the Phase Distortion on CZ and VZ Synths can also be called PM. So all
those PD and iPD synths are originally FM synths. The only difference to the
DX FM is, that the the ratio between carrier and modulator stays 1:1....
On the CZ - Synths the FM/PM is packed into a subtractive box to make
programming easier, quite simular to some of the Korg synths. On VZ Synths
the programming is almost identical to DX synths (at least having 2 VZ Osc.
with sinus waveforms in Phase sounds and looks -waveform wise- almost like
doing simple FM with my TX81z or FS1R on 1:1 Frequency) but it's 8 OPs and
you can create your own algorithms. Also both, CZ and VZ, are expanded with
ringmodulation and waveforms other then sinus...

So we're already talking FM Synthesis here ;) :)
So if your list isn't specific to a particular FM synth you could invite all
of us :)
