Of course since midi data goes from 0x00 to 0x7f, larger values may be nybblized. > - I have an entire paper which explains this - but I don't have the > file I printed it from - the structure maybe in the PDF which Steve > alluded to on the CZ files section, but I haven't looked at every > page. > The last communication I had with Ken Whitley suggested that a full > Sysx dump was impossible and that each storage location would > need a separate prompt. I am not sure if that is true. STEVE: So far as I recall, this is correct: you cannot do a send request for >>all<< patches with a single sysex command. You have to sent a request for each individual preset by location (A-1, A-2, A-3, etc.). One option would be to read from the "Sound Area" only and just send a program change command between requests. Each program change command puts the corresponding patch parameters into th "Sound Area," if I remember correctly. > However I have a day off tomorrow and intend to go back to the CZ's > and see what I was up to - if I can find the locale of the document > I have I will forward it. > > LEE > > --- On Wed, 15/7/09, charlie from PARRY <charles.copp@ sympatico. ca> wrote: > > From: charlie from PARRY <charles.copp@ sympatico. ca> > Subject: Re: [CZsynth] Re: cz 1000 sysex dump? > To: CZsynth@yahoogroups .com > Date: Wednesday, 15 July, 2009, 1:18 AM > > i haven't had enough time to look at its details byte wise by byte wise > or or and or and ,, you know what i mean , > > but as far i i have found the same applies to the cz 101 > for a sys ex dump request .. > hich differrs from a hand shake protocol, as far as i know the handshake > allows a time to be aknowledged and then times out waiting for data to be > processed and goes into comunication between two devices ,, > > but the cz's just get envoked by the send data sys ex .... > > for obtaining a dump , any body know how the bytes are handled and is there > any "OR" -ing of the bytes to > form bit shift numerics? > > charles STEVE: I am not sure what you mean here. Are you talking about recalculating checksums after data in a patch dump is changed? If so, I don't think CZ patch dumps use checksums. STEVE: Hope this is helpful.
