Re: [CZsynth] clicking sound

sounds like a dry joint just reflow the solder on the pins of the regulator first and see if the clicking stops if not then the regulator is on its way out

only a couple of quid to buy

  Subject: [CZsynth] clicking sound

  hi,

i had my cz1000 for two decades now and still works really fine.
but lately i've been hearing this clicking sound inside, near the power and audio output side.

it's not really affecting the functions of the synth but i'm 'kinda worried that it might in the long run. every time the clicking starts, it produces minute interference that i could hear from the headphones.

i'm using a regulated power supply (purely 9 volts at 1000ma) so i don't think the power supply is the problem. even tried other regulated 9v psu just in case. i often make sure that power fed in all my equipment are accurate.

i know a bit of electronic trouble shooting, so i opened the synth to peek inside and found the culprit - this black square component (which i forgot the actual name for it; though i think it's a regulator or something) located near the transistor with a heatsink, was the one causing the clicks.

since i know only the basics in electronics, i only tried to see if there was grounding, and i far as i know, i found none.

anyone hear have a similar problem?

any solution or cure for this?

  thanks.
