Casio CZ/ VZ/ FZ - Pro Series

I've read that some people have found "Easter eggs" including undocumented waveforms and unusual envelope behaviour in that mode, so it may be worth investigating if you can access it reliably. In the 1980s I had a Casiotone CT-202 which, once every 20 or so times when you switched it on, came up with a strange mode where each key had a different sound, made at random from the components of the 49 presets.

  Every time I turn of the CZ1000,with no battery backup - the parameters go out of range,resulting in the kind of effects that you are talking about. Moving the data in the LCD resets it to WITHIN range,as does pressing the P reset underneath the unit.
  So it sounds like a backup power scenario.

  OK... this is weird. After an hour of fiddling with it, it suddenly started responding to the mod wheel range control. Now it just works - no bizarre high or low note. Anyone know what may have caused this though? I'm still curious... and sort of waiting for the problem to return.

  On a side note, for those interested, a jumbo sized paper clip makes a perfect replacement (once bent into an M shape) for the positive battery terminal (mine, like many was corroded from battery acid).
