Re: [CZsynth] sysex to change midi-channel on a CZ-1000 ?

I'd suggest you keep the cz on channel 1 and try to do the equivalent with the device that you originally wanted to be on channel 1. If you can't shift things round then you could buy some hardware to help you out. I can think of 2.

http://mutable-instruments.net/midipal

Both devices have added value anyway. Midipal is a midi processor so you get things like step sequencer, arpegiator, midi delay and midi lfo. But you could use a transform setup to shift the midi coming into it on channel 4 to channel 1 so the cz works how you want.

The iconnectmidi range allows multiple midi hosts at once and great integration with iOS. You get audio routing too, so you can eg send your midi and audio data from your iPad to your pc. You could use the config software to map the midi channels how you would like.

Hope this helps

The cz series in mono mode ( and ht I think) have 4 subsequent channels from a base channel which cramps configs.

Sometimes - especially with instruments of the first generation - such compromises are necessary (remember DX7 or Roland Jupiter 6...).
