Thanks for the replies! At first I thought it was just dirty contacts in the pitch bend, but then I realized it was happening everywhere on the board, even just touching plastic areas. I will try to get a refund from the purchase and/or consider getting some work done by a pro. This is email group has been quite helpful for CZ stuff. I'm very glad it exists.

It can be a small problem which can be easily found and repaired - for example some dirty or oxidized contact somewhere in audio chain, dirty fader rail, dirty contact in some switch, crack on PCB...
Check also if there's not problem with solder of output jacks - there can be a crack on PCB or cold solder. I would check also the output relay and clean its contacts.
You will not do wrong to check PSU for cold solder, bad contact or cracks on PCB...
If you don't know much about repairs, find somebody who knows more about. Service manual can be found on the internet.
If you want to open the instrument and do cleaning and checking, detach the power cable from the instrument.

This new CZ1 has a problem that seems to have gotten worse in the 5 days I've owned it. When I touch the instrument anywhere it produces a loud crackly, distorted sound. At first I thought it was just coming from the pitch bend and that a simple cleaning would fix it. However I now realize that it happens when i touch any surface on the instrument, including the body itself. It comes and goes. I tried changing power cables but this does not change things. I'm not much of a repair guy so I don't even know where to go from here, but my novice guess is that it's a grounding issue with the power supply. If it seems like a serious problem I may try to get my money back from the seller. Anyone have any thoughts?Message
