There is a little hole in the side of the card. You insert something like a straightened paper clip into the hole, which pushes the little hook on the battery holder over, releasing it. Then you can pull it out. Simple.

Oh--Is that your chronology on gearslutz. If so, it looks like you already, "solved" the problem, although it seems like there should have been an easier way. Maybe you can post some pix here (photos) so others can learn from your experience.
