midi sequencer

2002-11-20 by Trevor Tremaine

Hey. Forgive me in advance for any blatant ignorance, I'm fairly new
to all this synth stuff.
Can anyone recommend a good, old midi sequencer/controller for use w/
a CZ-101 and an Ensoniq Mirage? I was looking at some old desktop
sequencers like the Akai ASQ-10 which seem pretty appealing. I'm
unlikely to pay over $250 for ANYTHING so I'm definitely looking for
some old cheap used stuff. Can someone clue me in?

I used an Ensoniq Mirage with an Alesis MMT-8 (around $100 used) in
the late 80's.
Worked really well for me.

Go to EBay and type in " Yamaha QX* " in the search. These are all
excellent sequencers that can be had for very, very cheap. I use a QX-
21 with my CZ-3000. I paid $20 for it. :) The QX1, 3, and 5 look
really nice. Nice big MIDI laptop computers, and the 7 & 21 are
almost the same.

have you considered an atari st? you could probably find one at goodwill if you looked hard
enough...i would guess that you would pay AT MOST $50 for a used one with some peripherals and
junk. or check ebay, they're still cheap, and you could get one that already has cubase installed.
