It sounds like your pre amp has gone, I'll try to have a look inside my 101 as I have to install a battery conversion in the next couple of days ,If I get any clues to the problem from the output board I'll let you know, But it is likely to be one of the Op amps. However I would first look at all your solder points to check for any dry joints, and then all your connecters inside, make sure that your audio out circuits dont have any dry joints also, it maybe that , from past experience most output problems are caused by either of these . If it is your pre amp thats gone it will need replacing , not a difficult task once you've found which one it is.

all quiet on the output front

2004-01-15 by Tim

Finally I have incorporated my CZ-101 into my casio home keyboard rig and
hoo boy it does sound
damn damn sexy, especially through a gnarly distortion.
BUT...
the output is very very very quiet through the lineout and non existant
through the headphone socket.
anybody encountered this and know what to do?
I can weild a soldering iron and poke about on a circuit board but have
little electronics theory knowledge.

-I have a couple of CZ101's and one has already been
converted (when aquired) to use 3 9v batteries and I
read about other such conversions. Is this for longer
battery life ? Cost seems to be roughly the same. What
is /are the advantages - G

Re: [CZsynth] Battery conversion

The conversion I plan is to just add 1 9v pp3, I wont be using it to power the synth , just to keep the memory intact.which is really all the batteries on the cz are for as they run out pretty quickly if you try to power it by them.
Six batteries definately cost more than One .
