Hey all, I'm having a hard time getting my CZ 5000 to retain saved patches. I can get it to save the patches to internal memory just fine, but when I try to recall them after the unit has been powered down for over a minute or so, the patches have seemingly vanished. Any suggestions?

Sounds like the internal CMOS battery has died. This probably looks like a thick silver disk soldered to one of the internal circuit boards, and when it's working it keeps the internal patches backed up with a minute amount of power to the memory RAM chip. Any decent synth tech should be able to put in a replacement. Simon Original Message -----

To the best of my knowledge, the CZ-5000 and CZ-3000 do not have CMOS batteries. They do have a battery compartments underneath that takes AA batteries (4 I think). These provide the power to maintain RAM presets when the unit is off. ROM presets should be there even without batteries. I believe there is a powerup preset restore button combination that will duplicate ROM presets in the RAM banks. Unfortunately, I do not recall what it is. (1) Test the batteries; replace if necessary. (2) If you have new batteries in there and RAM presets are not kept, it may be another problem. (3) Make sure there is no corrosion on the contacts from a leaky battery. Hope this helps. Thanks a lot for the information. I did notice there was a compartment for 3 AA batteries on the bottom, but upon putting new batteries in I found that I was running into the same problem. --- In CZsynth@yahoogroups.com, "steve_the_composer" <smw-mail@p...> wrote: > To the best of my knowledge, the CZ-5000 and CZ-3000 do not have > CMOS batteries. If the contacts are clean and the batteries are new, that's as far as I have gone with patch back up memory storage issues. I did look up in the manual, and there is nothing about a CMOS battery. Perhaps a wire is loose? Hope you can fix whatever the cause is. --- In CZsynth@yahoogroups.com, "thejunosound" <thejunosound@y...> wrote:
