EZ-CZ cartridge

EZ-CZ cartridge

2004-05-29 by Roger Whitaker

Hello,

I am new here and am hoping to find some answers. I own a CZ-1000 and
a CZ-5000 WOW! I believe they sound great, I have a couple of
Yamaha's a DX 100 and a DX27 and think the Casio's sound better to be
honest. Much more like the old anaolg sounds like I got out of my old
korg MS20 from way too many years ago.

Anyways, here's is my first question.

I have four menory cartridges called EZ-CZ and they have two little
switches to the left top of the cartridge. What is the purpose of
these two switches? They slide giving you what appears to be four
different settings but I can't figure they do and what they are for?
I looked through the archives and couldn't get a hit on the functions
of these switches so thought I would ask - THANKS!!!

If anyone knows please let me know.

Most sincerely
RW

I used to have one. I may still have it somewhere. As I recall, on
the CZ101/CZ1000 you have 4 possibilities for storing banks of either
8 or 16 patches (not sure whethere its 8 or 16): AA, AB, BA, BB. On
the CZ3000/CZ5000 you have two possibilities for storing either 16 or
32 patches. The other two settings flip the order of the 1/2 banks.

I seem to recall the hump takes a couple of AA batteries.

My gut says its 4 banks of 16 on the CZ101/CZ1000 and 2 banks of 32
on the CZ3000/CZ500.

If there are decent presets on the carts, I recommend saving the
patches to a computer (sysex dump) before overwriting them.

Perhaps they are ones that were sold by a sound designer. I am not
sure if Andy Schleisenger used the EZ-CZ carts to market his sounds.
I seem to recall seeing his name somewhere somewhere on the internet
over the past 5 years.

Are the labels on the carts? If so, is there anything written on
them?

Out of curiosity, how much did they cost?

BTW, I seem to recall you needed to power down the CZ before
inserting or removing the carts to prevent possible electronic
damange.

Hope this helps.

Dr. Steve

Move to quarantaine

This moves the raw source file on disk only. The archive index is not changed automatically, so you still need to run a manual refresh afterward.
