As requested, here is my introduction to you all:

I have just purchased a VZ10m and 3 cards (2 x ROM & 1 x RAM), but
unfortunately no manual. I have quite a collection of equipment, and am
a fan of Yamaha's FM synth (the DX7 & FS1r type). I bought this because
I had read that it was a similar type of product.

The first thing that strikes me is it totally incapable of doing 'real'
sounds so I hope it is good at doing 'electronic' type sounds.

My musical tastes are quite varied, but Electronic music (tangerine
Dream, Ian Boddy etc.) is really my chief love - playing and listening.

Does anyone have any good sounds lying around, How many cards were done
for this machine and is the a download able manual available on the web?

Bye for now

Hi RFJ,

you can find a little tutorial (far from finished) and the 3 most important
pages of the manual in the files section of that group. I hope that helps a
bit...
The VZ-1 is also a FM Synth, with some restrictions (like not every operator
can have it's own frequency) and expansions (for instance ring modulation)
to typical FM synths. So if you have some experience with FM synths the VZ
shoudn't be much of a problem...

For sounds you might check the links in the Bookmark section of that list...

Wow - I didn't know that about the VZ-1. Did Yamaha threaten to sue
them? What a shame Casio dropped out of the synth market - I'd love to
see what they would've come up with. I've got the CZ-101, CZ-1000, SK-5,
& MT-46 and have never been disappointed.

I don't know why Casio gave up producing the VZ Series. I heard they'd
licensed the technology from Yamaha. Other then that there were a lot of
speculations why they left the pro market...
By the way, also the CZ-Synths are working with the same technique that
yamaha calls FM but is Phase Modulation. They simply put it in a subtractive
black box...
