yeah i've been following your posts, joseph. unfortunately, i haven't
had any experiences that would help you out. my 101 has locked up on me
before, but it was when i was using the incorrect ac adapter. everyonce
in awhile it will change patches or lock up during a groove. i haven't
been able to determine the reasons, but turning the prg change parameter
off solves the patch change problem. the lock-up-during-a-sequence
problem still happens on the odd occasion. i think both these problems
are a midi transmission thing and not a fault with the 101 at all.
sounds like your getting some good help here, tho'. which is what it's
all about. if the problem persists, you might want to try the
vintagesynthrepair group. they mostly deal with older analog synths, but
i have seen a few posts regarding digital synths. i think the 101 is old
enough to be considered vintage.
good luck,
shayne

Kind of funny you mentioned MIDI...I have problems with sysex I noticed. I can
transfer patches from the synth to the computer using a CZ 101 librarian, but not vice
versa. Fortunately, I can key in the settings manually. I kind of think this problem
may be related.

turning the prg change off does not do anything for me though.

I'm using software written specifically for the CZ 101 and following
the instructions exactly as they say.

if you just record the sysex and then try to send it back, that cannot work.
The CZ use a 'send' command for one direction and a 'receive' command for
the other. It is only one byte difference... pity, but those were the times.
You HAVE to use a proper editor/librarian. Another possibility is that the
receive and transmit channels on your CZ are different. THAT would be easy
to fix :-)

All the best, Hellmuth
