DH-200 Info

2005-03-25 by Tim Parkhurst

Hi All,

I know this isn’t a CZ or FZ series synth, but does anyone have info about,
or know the location of docs for the DH-200 wind controller/synth? I’ve got
one where the MIDI works fine, but the internal sounds come out as a
high-pitched squeal. I can hear the tone change slightly when I select
different sounds, and there seems to be a recognizable ‘note’ that changes
when I play with the keys, but this is just barely audible under the
‘squeal.’ Is there a way to reset the synth? I’ve looked for a reset button
like on the CZ series, but I can’t find anything. Any suggestions?

Hi Tim

Unfortunately the docs for mine are archived away in the attic, so I
can't double-check, but I do recall having a similar problem.
Replacing the batteries did the trick for me, but I've not had the
problem repeat for ages since - this may have been a fluke! The
on-board sounds are pretty basic, though - I only ever use mine to
play a TX81z, which has a pretty good response to the breath control,
so I don't know when I last used the internal sounds.

good luck

Jonathan

The DH series of controllers are actually officialy for VZ series
synths, as were the guitar controllers like the PG-380. The VZ-8M
has special settings for wind, guitar, or keyboard.
I purchased a DH-200 cheap with the squeal problem. Easy fix as
they all seem to suffer from a capacitor that goes bad. Here is a
link from the page I used to fix mine:

Not a real easy project, but well worth the time.

Hi Guys,

Speaking of PG-380s. Did anyone ever make a specific site for the guitar as
the one below for the breath controller?

I never did see clarification with pics which board needs the electrolytic
caps replaced, what their values were and how many need to be replaced? I
have a white and a black one that needs to be repaired. Ive been saving
them for a rainy day and once I get clarification as I want to do it myself.
If anyone has more info, I would appreciate it. Ive seen some of the
older references, but they have been somewhat vague. The other
consideration is that they are surface mount electronics making repairs a
bit more difficult.

Cheers,

Andrew

Move to quarantaine

This moves the raw source file on disk only. The archive index is not changed automatically, so you still need to run a manual refresh afterward.
