VZ-8m factory reset

VZ-8m factory reset

2001-08-05 by Troy C

I just recently purchased a VZ-8M without the manual, and I was wondering if
anyone new how to initialize the unit.
Also, does anyone have any leads on how to get a copy of the manual?

Thanks
Troy

Hi Troy,

at least on CZ-1 and VZ-1 it works when you press initialize before turning
the synth on and then the yes button to reset the unit...

I guess it works the same way for the VZ-8...

To initialize the unit you hold down a key and power the unit up. I think
that the key may even be marked init, in any case I believe it's the one
all the way on the lower left hand side of the unit. Casio has been very
good about providing manuals free of charge, if you call their customer
service number they can put you through to the people that send out
replacement manuals. Another place you can try is Rogue Music, they'll sell
you a photocopy of a manual.

casio will send you a free copy, if they have it.

rogue will charge you.

the only difference is that the copy from casio will be stapled, a copy
from rogue will be bound (bonded?).

try first to get it from casio.
i think their # is (973) 328-1670
the area codes change regularly, so the number is probably good, but the
area code might not be.

Dude, awesome! I just called and they'll be sending it out tomorrow. I think
I read somewhere that Casio didn't offer any manuals for their old MIDI
gear. Seems like that info is all wrong.
Anyway, that number was correct. That's right here in New Jersey and we
aren't getting any new zip codes any time soon, so that number should be
good for a while.

Thanks

VZ-8 manual

2001-08-09 by Troy C

I'd just like to thank everyone for helping me with my manual issues. I
called Casio, and they sent me a photocopy of the manual the very next day.
The only thing that sux about it, is that they kinda shrunk the original
text so that they could fit two pages onto one, so it's kinda hard to read.
But anyway, just in case anyone is interested, holding down the "write"
button while turning on the unit will initialize it.

the original manual was shrunken, not just yer copy.

Or from any other company.

Yeah, they shrunk it down even more. You can tell because some of the pages
in the photocopied manual are normal size, but others have been shrunken
down in order to be able to fit two pages from the original manual onto one
single 8 1/2 by 11 page. This distorts and crunches some of the words so
that they can barely be read, and some of the words that were tiny to begin
with in the original manual, are now completely illegible. But it's cool
though, because I have two VZ-10m's with their original manuals, and I can
figure out everything says. It's just that the VZ-8m is set up a little
differently, and I just needed to know what some of the different functions
were.

i just spilt a cup of water on my desk- i quickly moved my keyboard and
mouse out of the way- i put the keyboard on top of my monitor and my mouse
upside down on the keyboard- once i'd finished cleaning up i realised the
mouse had been depressing the delete key- i lost the entire contents of my
cz/vz folder in outlook- doh!

You can always un-shrink it using a copy machine -- set
magnification to 200%

it'll still be un-readable, but at least it'll be bigger ;)

Yeah, you're right, some of the text is just so squashed that enlarging it
will just make big squash. Not a big deal though, I'll manage...heck it was
free.
