Patch librarian/editor?

Patch librarian/editor?

2006-11-17 by illuminatusraw

I'm having a hard time finding Lib software for my CZ101 does anybody
know where I can find freeware or cheap software that supports the
CZ101?

You can try Jsynthlib, since it works with the CZ1000 it should work
with the 101 as well...

Years ago, I looked into JLibSynth, but never got anywhere with it.
Perhaps you can help. The problem seems to start with basics.
According to the documentation:

"Download the latest JSynthLib-XXX.jar file from JSynthLib Home Page
or JSynthLib SourceForge site and copy it to any directory (for
example c:\Program Files\JSynthLib\ or ~/Applications/jsynthlib/).
Application bundle may be provided for Mac OS X."

"Invoke JSynthLib.
[MS Windows] Run JSynthLib.jar by typing java -jar JSynthLib-XXX.jar
from the command prompt. You may create a shortcut on the desktop to
JSynthLib.jar."

Here's the first problem: the zip file has no files with the jar
extension!!!!

Any suggestions? Thanks.

JSynthLib is a good free editor for a lot of different synths. They
have pretty much stopped development of any new versions but what is
there works well. The jar file for v-020 can be found here:

http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=41208

The jar file is not kept on the JSynthLib site so it can still be
updated if bugs are found. Although they aren't very active there are
watchers who will respond if you contact the Sourceforge link.

I use JSynthLib in Win98 or XP the only thing that is needed is a
Java runtime provider. The XP PC is using J2SE version 5 update 6.

Steve, I really like how you have the scripts all copied out. I had
problems with the first batch file I wrote because I didn't use caps
to call the jar file. I'm not a big programmer but I remembered my
Unix and included the upper case then the file opened. The error
stated "CLass not found" or something to that effect. Also I've
noticed on the later versions of J2SE runtime the jar file can call
the program simply by double clicking on it.

JSynthLib has helped me out a few times even though I have Unisyn and
Midiquest. With my Yamaha DX7IID I can re-assign all the performances
on a Ram card to be called from the card using this editor. The
commercial editors cannot do this simple feat. It always pays to have
or at least check out different editors as long as they aren't too
pricey.

Sorry for the ramble I just checked out the CZ1000 driver and found
it doesn't support patch editing for the CZ's. It will send sysex and
perform librarian functions though and it has a large list of other
synths included.

Thanks for the link to the jar file. I will try to make time to give
it a try. --Steve
