Hi there,

Joined this group a few weeks ago and thought I'd introduce myself (seems
like such a friendly place).

My name's HereBoy (sometimes), I'm based in London, UK and I've been
using two CZ101's for about 10 (?) years. I love these synths! These days I'm
working on Mac G3/Logic but I started out using Atari/Creator.

With my group Sugardog <http://jump.to/sugardog> we make
breakbeat-fueled dance music (we've been variously called Breaks, Funky
House, Downtempo Drum n Bass, Nu-skool Electro, etc.) and usually have at
least one CZ doing it's thing in there somewhere. We release 12"s on our
own LAZY label <http://listen.to/lazy> and have had good DJ support (Andy
Weatherall/Groove Armada's Andy Cato, amongst others), but sales-wise,
we're still waiting for our first million <grin>.

I've always used the CZ for pads, etc (they sound pretty crap alone, but
seem to sit just right in a mix - esp. with a bit of Roland Space Echo), but
what I really like is using randomizer software to create freqy sounds that I
wouldn't imagine. I used to use the ancient text-based ST program
"STPATCH", with it's "weirdness factor", but these days I use a friends copy of
SoundDiver. This doesn't seem to make the same "quality" sounds, but
maybe I'm just hankering back to a plastic age of 8MHz computers... waffle...
waffle...

Anyway, I talk too much. Nice to be associated with other CZ users.

Korg Triton? Pah! I'm gonna get Cosmic!

Laters.

Hi,

nice to see that the mailing list is growing and growing, I never thought
that so many CZ/VZ users are out there... :-)

My CZ-1 is also still in use and I also started making music with the ATARI
ST. At the beginning I worked with a strange program called Musicstudio from
Activision (it realy had the ability to control synths) and changed to
Cubase later...

When it comes to soundprogramming on the CZ I prefere using the built in
buttons, probably since I'm used to it. I programm all my other synths with
different types of editor software. Well there are no VAs among them...

When it comes to the sounds, you might try the sounds you find in the files
section of that list...

There's a software called STeem for PC that emulates an ATARI ST so ppl. can
run there old midi software. I know that there's a ST emulator for the Mac
too, but I don't know if it also emulates the MIDI output, you might try to
find it so you can use STPATCH with your Mac.
