CZ-101 Replacing Power Jack

CZ-101 Replacing Power Jack

2008-03-02 by euphoricdreams

Hello!

Can anyone lend any expertise to me for a moment? The power jack on my CZ-101 has took
a turn towards the flaky. I have to wiggle the connector/press it in the right direction for my
CZ to power up. I was thinking about replacing it. I am an amateur at the soldering iron, is
this a job that I could do myself? Is there a different fix beyond just replacing it?

Thanks in advance,
dave

If you haven't been using a genuine Casio power supply, the slight difference in plug sizes (we're talking fractions of a millimeter!) can make for an unreliable connection or even damage the socket. I found this from experience, on my WK-3000. I had to have the socket replaced, and even then it only became 100% reliable when I finally (in desparation) forked out for a proper Casio power supply. Now it's rock-solid, but at a price.

in my experience, the jack is probably just loose; the solder-connections
that hold it to the board are broken, but the jack is probably fine. you
should be able to open it up and just re-solder the jack.
