Dear Lee,
Thankyou very much for your response.
If you can those messages to me, that would be great.
I have Midi Ox so I'll have another look at it.
I'm told the CZ is a really early machine re midi, and the
implementation is a bit odd, hence the difficulties. It's a dear little
thing though.
Thanks again, Karl May

Karl,
I am using MIDI-ox to store CZ101 backups - I know that there is no
front panel dump initiation on the CZ101 - and I cannot recall the SYSx
message to start it. However, since yoou say that you have got as far as
starting the dump - you might try MIDI-ox (midiox.com) as it shows what
is coming from the output MIDI port as well as storing the SYSx.
If I think on I will check the messages required as I have them on
printout and I know I have done it before to move sounds from the CZ101
to 230s.
The set up should be that the PC sends a SYSx message to the CZ and from
the PC out to the CZ in and the CZ out should then send to the PC in -
if the PC has any THRU enabled then this might cause problems with
transfer and should be disabled.
I haven't done any CZ transfers for a while I will have to check it out.
LEE

I've been trying to find a bank librarian that works for my CZ. I've
tried Soundlib and MidiQuest versions 4.0,6.0, and 10. Basically, with
all of them I ask the CZ send it's bank to the computer, I get the
message the bank is being retrieved, and no data arrives.
The Soundlib guy doesn't seem to be contactable. The MidiQuest guys say
MidiQuest seems to work with some CZ's but not others. They don't know
why.
The midi cables are fine, midi channel 1 being used, and memory protect
off, so I think all obstacles are out of the way.
Does anybody know of a librarian which is likely to work, or have any
helpful comments for Soundlib and/or MidiQuest?
Many thanks, Karl May
