Any software synth versions for Casio VZ yet?

Any software synth versions for Casio VZ yet?

2001-12-30 by cliffe123

Hi
We all know that software synths are growing by leaps and bounds.
You hear a lot about FM software synths but not about the iPD nor
the the PD. Im primarily looking for the one that can play and
exchange system data from a casio VZ-1. If anybody know of any please
let me know. Thanks

Regards!
  Clifton

Hi Clifton,

there's not that much difference about FM, iPD and PD, since what Yamaha
called FM and Casio Phase Distortion is both Phase Modulation. They're
different sounding because of some little differences in their implementation.
Unfortunately so far almost (except Rainbow) none of the FM - softsynths are
supporting ringmodulation and feedback isn't reacting the same way the saw
waveforms of the VZ oszillators do since when it comes to feedback the
harmonic contents is dependending on the operatore level.
I'm not sure what kind of "System Data" you're looking for but we have a
scanned System Exclusive Manual in the files section of that group...

Regards!

Hi Somma
I'll make this a little easier. Have you heard of software studios
like Steinberg Cubase VST, or Fruityloops3? Anyway, im looking for
VST Plugings which are also called software synthesizers as opposed
to hardware synthesizers. My theory is the market for software synths
is increasing while the market for hardware synths is decreasing.
That's why I was just wondering if they came out with a software
version of the casio vz-1 or something simular that works the same
way, but in a software package for PC Windows. Well either way I
thank you for your commet or if you would like to reply to what im
looking for, that would be good. I hope this made sense. Well thanks
again.

Hi Clifton,

yep, I think I know what you're searching for and you may should take a look
at Native Instruments - FM7 or Loftsoft - FMheaven. There's a demo version
for both softsynths avaiable and the programmer of FMheaven sent me pre
version that is capable of doing morphing between two FM sounds what in my
opinion is a great feature. I also think both do fit fine to the kind of
sounds I heard in the songs I found on your mp3.com page...

Re: Any software synth versions for Casio VZ yet?

2001-12-31 by cliffe123

Hi Summa
Good suggestion. I like to thank you so much for that. I didn't think
that they would come out with a demo version of FM7 since I'v heard
about it myself of what it can do. Since I'v downloaded it, I can't
wait till I try this one out tonight.:) I still love my VZ-1 of
course, Its part of me and part of what it can do for me. Hopfully I
might take some advantage of the FM7 like I did with my Fruityloops3.
Other than that, Thanks again and have a happy new years eave.:-D

Warm regards
Clifton
