Isn't there a section in the Power Play manual in the files section in this group on using the PG with a VZ-8?

I have the VZ-8m manual (hard copy), but cannot scan it. If you get one of the other VZ manuals (which are around in pdf files somewhere, you will have the basics. For the PG-380, you probably want to use G mode. If you cann't find the write-up for G mode in other sources, I can probably write up a summary.

Steve,

I've looked everywhere I can find on the web and cannot find a VZ-8m
manual. Would you know of a verified location I can find?

I tried to put it in what looks like G mode...all that I get is garbled
sounds on all sound settings.

Is it possible that something simple is wrong like it needs a battery.
Is there a way to reset the system to factory default settings?

Thanks so much for your reply,

Terry Cash

I scanned in a copy a while back - at 20Mb it's too big to post in the files section (keeps timing out), but you can download it from my website:

http://www.msmcleod.co.uk/Casio_VZ8-M_Operations_Manual.pdf

Maybe someone with a faster internet connection could upload it?

Cheers,

Mark.

Thanks so very much Mark I downloaded it successfully. I will try and
split it up into chapters and upload them to the files section soon.

I hope my device is working ... wish me luck.

I agree--thanks for scanning the manual and for giving us the link, Mark. I tried uploading it to the files section, but it is too big (20MB v. the 5 MB limit on uploads).

Terry, I hope the manual helps you get the vz-8m working with the guitar. It should be a really nice combination. (I have used the vz-8m with the Casio DH-100 horn.)

In case the problem you described is a result of scrambled user presets (INT), I suggest you try the guitar presets in the factory ROM banks--PST1 and PST2. Use the SHIFT button to move through the banks. Internal Factory ROM Op-Mems G-1 --> G-8 are the factory guitar patches. (See manual pp. 101-102).

Footnote to p. 74 (MIDI DATA): You can set up the vz-8m so that program change commands 64-127 will switch the unit to either PST1 or PST2. However, you have to send a shorts system exclusive message to the vz-8m to select whether it will be PST1 or PST2 (Shift Change command). (Program changes commands 0-63 will switch to INT.)

Best wishes. Let us know how it goes.
Steve
