I will have to check out your MP3. Or, is there any way you can put it up in real audio format? Stating that the VZ is worth $100 gives the impression that you don't like yours. Is this the case? I have made some amazing sounds for the VZ - it's hard to put ANY value on it for me. To me, it's worth a hell of a lot more than the $250 I paid for it years ago but it took a while for me to realize its potential. Bass sounds can be good but the sounds are much too deep to waste on mainly bass sounds.

MP3 is more of a standard than Real Audio (Quicktime and Windows Media
player are easier to install and aren't as fiddly as real audio). More
programs create MP3s than Real audio format, and the file size is small also
so I don't see how Real Audio has any advantage (correct me if I'm wrong
about this). Besides Peak- What program does encode Real Audio ???

Please post some feed back after you've heard the track (does it sound like
a VZ to you ?).

Not the case- The VZ8m goes for around that amount of $$ (last time I
checked). I do like my VZ, although recent VSTi's or a TX81z/TX802 are tough
competition for a VZ (IMHO of course).

> Bass sounds can be good but the sounds are

Well- I have a weakness for bass- but I certainly don't disagree with you on
that (I just have other stuff that I prefer for pads and such).
I'd love to see someone post even a few deep, rich VZ sounds.

My other sounds are licensed by a company and I can't post them- What I did
have was lots of electronic bass sounds I hadn't sold ....so I posted them
for free to contribute to the VZ community.

I'll add that I found ALL the Casio libraries (Tokyo, Power, etc...) to
be pretty weak (I don't like Peter Cetera era 80's DX pianos)- and anything
in Casio's collection with the name "guitar" in it was a real stretch.

hi todd

yes. they have the same good plastic-like feeling as the good old cz synths,
but sound a bit more expensive.

>I do like my VZ, although recent VSTi's or a TX81z/TX802 are tough

really? i don't. i think they are rather different. well, a wavestation is a
totally *other* cup of tea.

>Well- I have a weakness for bass- but I certainly don't disagree with you

>that (I just have other stuff that I prefer for pads and such).

hmm, i have a vz pad sound i use on virtually every song now...

>I'd love to see someone post even a few deep, rich VZ sounds.

i like the cz bass sounds better, no, i get fine bass sounds easier on my
cz.

>(I don't like Peter Cetera era 80's DX pianos)

agreed. dx piano is the domain of dx synths. but - both vz and cz
*are* capable of useful guitar sounds. i use an acoustic-like guitar
sound of the cz and a distorted sound of the vz quite often. for the
latter, go to my page http://www.matucana.de and download the
excerpt of "to beat the feeling". the lead sound is the vz one.

I listened to the excerpt- the lead sounds like synced oscillators on an
Analog synth (the tune has a lot going on in it) thanks for sharing the
link.

Hi.
Im sure glad that you came out with the new VZ demo. For me, I had my
VZ for over 10 years and never got tired of them. I think anybody
would be suprised about it's potential use of thease amaizing
instruments. Your demo was worth listening to and I was very impressed
what you've created and what you came up with. To me the VZ's don't
have to sound like crosses between CZ's and DX7's but in wide range of
sounds. If you would, go to http://www.mp3.com/stations/casiovz1
and check out this first song "The Passage". At the end you'll hear a
lady singing but thats the works of the vz-1 itself. Thanks and have
a good one.

That's some tricky "Yah- Eeees" off your VZ (nice buzzy synth too).
It does indeed sound like a female voice (but with clock noise from a low
sample rate !). If I hadn't been told I would have guessed it was voice
formants on an FS1r.
    Thanks for posting that Clifton.

Hi,
I am listening to your MP3.com site right now - very impressive! But are you telling me that the sample and hold type blips and especially the noise with sweeping filter is your casio vz? or are you using an external filter for the noise sweep?
still didnt check out the track originally posted by xpander but are you telling me cliftons tracks sound like $100????
clifton, whats your rig like and are you multitracking everything or do you have banks of vz's? :)
keep up the good work!

Hi.
Well generally speaking about the works on what he and I did on the
synths for instance, I heard Xpander's demo. I was very impressed
about his demo however, I think he didn't use any effects nor the
external filter on his demo. Pretty amaizing? Now for what I did, I
basically MIDI all my instruments and tracks together simutainiously
to two channels. They do sound like multitracked recordings in a
sense but they're really not, but I do have three VZ synths. Maybe
for one or two songs Iv added guitars. Well It just comes to show you
what types of sounds they can make and what are its limitations? (I
don't know that myself of coures.) Anyway I hope you enjoyed the
demos and thanks for sharing this with us:D

Clifton,
So you did use another synth or an external filter on the sweeping noise in that track, right?

Hi.
I never used an external filter in any of my tracks and you won't find
it in the other demo of somebody else here. I just used 2 to 3 VZ
synths just for musical expanding purposes.

Hi Helmuth,

Its interesting you should say that, my CZ produces some decent bass
sounds, sometimes a bit like Roland Juno type bass sounds, although
it can be a bit mushy sounding in the lower register at times.
Perhaps the more basic architecture and lower grade audio specs??
makes it easy to create warmer bass sounds. I also like it for leads,
organ sounds and ring mod noises.
