Using Atari ST Emulator (STEem) and VZ Editor

Using Atari ST Emulator (STEem) and VZ Editor

2011-05-01 by ashleywhiteman

Hi,

Has anyone tried this? and with any success? I know STEem support Midi USB out with Cubase, etc.

I am using the VZ editor on the real Atari with great effect at the moment.

Thanks

Ashley

Hi.
Two or three years ago (maybe more), I test drove an Atari VZ editor on XP via Steem. It worked!
I couldn't get used to the Atari style interface; however, you seem to be quite familiar with both Atari and the software. So I assume you should have no trouble with it under Steem--once you get your configuration set up and learn the basics of Steem.
I forget which version I had (TOS, I think its called), but I do know that the different versions have different features.
Anyhow, I seem to recall there is at least once excellent Steem website. You might already know about it.
BTW, I seem to recall editing the patch data file directly when I was playing around with the VZ Editor and managed to put in characters for patch names that I couldn't get from the front panel. (I wonder where my notes are.)
Not sure this helps, other than to encourage you to give it a try. I'd be curious to know how it goes.
Steve

This moves the raw source file on disk only. The archive index is not changed automatically, so you still need to run a manual refresh afterward.
