Vz-10m

Vz-10m

2011-07-13 by dogstar669

I just picked a casio vz-10m at a pawn shop for $75.

It worked great but I noticed the presets had been changed, so I reset it. Held write during power up.

It seemed to reset it, but now the LCD is blank (all pixels darkened I think would be the best description.).

When I turn it off and on, I think it shows an error message or at least some sort of text before the display goes all dark, so I'm pretty sure the actual LCD is still fine.

It still seems to be working and I can play all the original presets now. Just no LCD.

Any ideas on how to fix it? I'm hoping it is simple. Right now, I have it unplugged and will try it again in a few hours.

Did you check the internal battery?

You probably reset the contrast with all the other settings. I have no idea now how to adjust it; probably press and hold "DISPLAY" while moving the data slider.

Wow Gordon!!! It's on page 25 of the VZ-10m manual. Hold the display button and move the value slider.... common sense rules again!

Try holding the display button down (right of display) and use the value slider to ajust the brightness I think that is how I do it on mv vz-1

Thanks!!! That fixed it like a charm.

BTW, I love the sounds coming out of this thing. So pure, so digital. It's really not ashamed of being a digital synth.

I think it will be great for doing some video game compositions.

You have to adjust the LCD contrast....instructions are in the manual (I am on holiday in Europe right now). You have to hold a button and use the slider....that should restore the LCD.
