FZ1 audio

2012-01-16 by tonysal1234

Good Day,

Have a FZ1 with no audio output, I don't hear a click when turning on the unit, could it be the relay? Looking for a service manual to try to repair, any available for download?

Many Thanks,
Tony

I know very little about the FZ-1. See if this site can help: http://www.buchty.net/casio/

Hi Steve,

I sent Tony the FZ-1 Service Manual after I crunched it down a bit. Buchty never replied to him. The manual I got from Buchty was 58mb! I got it down to 8mb without losing a lot of quality. Trying to read the schematics with my older eyes it's important to be able to zoom 400%.

There is an output muting relay but it looks like it only goes to the Mix output. The individual outputs and headphone output are not muted. I never realized how complex the FZ's circuitry is until I looked at this schematic. I could spend years poking around in one of these. Anybody have a dead one???

Yeah I know I'm sick.... Fran

Hi Tony,

could indeed be the relays, I had a similar problem with a friends
FZ1 about 15 years ago. I do have a PDF Version of the service manual
that is too big to upload it to the files section of this list, but
will provide a download link for a limited time...

butchy not replying to my emails either

have not heard from him in the last 6months

i sent butchy that manual and it is a big file

but it is very good

the worst thing they did was provide a dc hi voltage for the back light it works but with dc instead of ac the life of an efoil is halfed

i changed mine for a 5v invertor to ac voltage and it lasts a lot longer

Yes, actually. I suspect the display is knackered. It's in bits, but I
have all the screws ;-)

Make me an offer.

Hi Summa,

Thanks for making this file available. I think it's great that these groups are keeping these old documents around and available.

Doesn't work, stopping the whole machine from booting. Probably.

Rainer Buchty and I discussed the possibility of adapting the ROMs to
ignore the display test, and just fire up anyway - or grafting another
display in.

Anyway, "single word Anglo-Saxon fault report", basically.
