FZ10M spares available to a good home.

FZ10M spares available to a good home.

2012-05-10 by krakli

Hi, I have just taken an old FZ10M to bits as I needed a new display unit for my HS1 (and now need a backlight unit). The unit was quite heavily corroded but I have all of the other parts available to whoever might want them, obviously I would only prefer to post to the UK and I think that most parts could fit into jiffy bags. The main Board looks in good shape as do all of the smaller boards on the front panel,

Email me if you are interested before I stick it all in the bin.

Regards

Ian

I actually have one in bits, with as far as I can tell a working floppy
drive. The display is gubbed, it seems.

Anyone who wants it, email me off-list, or organise some sort of
collection. I can box it up if you want it couriered.

it's almost 2years that I'm rapairing an old FZ10M to finally enjoy this great machine so I'm interested in spares parts but I'm in Italy. parcelforce (globalvalue) should be the cheapest shipping method, let me know if possible, it would be greatly appreciated. cheers (sorry for typos)

Is there actually an alternative modern day screen equivalent that will fit the FZ10M or VZ10M? I mean, what is the actual screen type in these machines? What do they need to operate?? My VZ10M screen is a bit wonky and rather than pull it apart and stuff it and then render the machine useless I'd rather buy a new screen.

Cheers, Graham

Re: [CZsynth] Re: FZ10M spares available to a good home.

no as with the most lcd screens the controller is on the back of the lcd

but the fz10 and equivelents are not there lcd is just an lcd

all the control circuitry is on a pcb and the there are many cables that go to the lcd

to put a different lcd display would mean firstly hacking a circuit to interface the signals from the cpu board for controlling the lcd controllers and making the signal control the newer version of the lcd controler of newer displays

the other problem with the fz range and equivelents is the dc to dc convertors for the foil backlight is that efoils burn out quiker with dc voltage than ac voltage

this is an easy fix by fitting a dc/ac inverter to the 5v supply and connecting that to the efoil insted of the dc from the efoil inverter of the fz

it can be done but is a major work to get done

i have been looking into it and have had a logic anilyser and can make a fpga circuit to do it but it will cost lots to impliment and is not diy freindly as the original chips are all surface mount so it means major rework and i can get an vfd screen with exact lcd dimensions which would do away with the back light circuit

but they are not cheap for that size display its £100+

which is more than what the synth is worth

but then again i have fitted them to s900/s950/emax1/2/sp12/sp1200

d50/d550 and they look great wether they add to the cost of a synth is yet to be seen
