CZ-1 Relay Failure/Low Volume

CZ-1 Relay Failure/Low Volume

2013-06-07 by Paul

So I somehow bought both a CZ-5000 and a CZ-1 today and I'm wondering if the CZ-1 needs to have a relay replaced. The volume seems very low no matter what I crank up. I'm having trouble finding any direct discussions about relay replacement though I do find mention of low volume troubles.
Also, my CZ-5000 needs a C key and the slider caps replaced for the volume and chorus sliders. Does anyone know of a source for replacements?
  Thanks,
    Paul T

Hello all,

I'm looking too for replacements for volume and chorus sliders of my "new" Cz1.

Does somebody know where to find spare parts or replacements that fits the CZ1 sliders?

Regards,

Ángel

Not that i can give you an answer for where to source either, but it may help if you specify whether you mean the sliders themselves or the slider caps.

try alps or alpha

you will need to find the dimentions of your sliders volume are log audio types if its stereo they will be dual log

2x10ka are the usual oners used for audio on most synths both old and new

As far as replacing the slider caps which seems to come up often on the CZ-5000 I have only found this guy and while the caps fit they clearly are not original or a close match:

The CZ1 service manual lists these as Panasonic EWA style slide pots. I attached the pdf datasheet if it will come through...

The stereo chorus pot is a 50k dual with a B taper. It is 30mm travel. The Panasonic part number is EWA-NA1X05B54.

The single volume pot is a 10k with a B (log) taper. It is also 30mm travel. The Panasonic part number is EWA-NF0X05B14.

Panasonic discontinued these so if anyone finds a source or replacement for these I would really like to know. These are used in many of our synths from this era. The datasheet has all of the dimensions and leg placement to help with replacing them.
