VZ-1/10m firmware dump

VZ-1/10m firmware dump

2016-09-06 by José Ángel Morente

Hi,

does anybody know if the internal ROM of the VZ-1 is dumped anywhere on Internet?

Thank you in advance.

Regards,

J.A.

I haven't seen it, but that doesn't mean it isn't somewhere. What would you do with it if it were available? Are you going to try to create a software VZ? That might be really cool to have--the VZ synth engine is very unique.

I wondered the same thing myself: once hold of it: to do what?
I recently looked up about the Yamaha MCS2 controller: as I picked this up cheap on ebay, and found the more useful controllers were missing from the OS. Apparently some guy had copied the ROM and added the missing controllers: his email failed to prompt a response though.
I can well understand adding missing features to an old rom to update it,but is the VZ missing something, or am I?

I have it somewhere as I have changed Eprom in my MCS2 for that improved one. It works perfectly. Check your PM.

How would I go about doing that? Do I need a Eeprom blower?
What's a pm? (Forgive my ignorance): the rom/issue no?

Get the same size EPROM, and program it in Eprom programmer - write that BIN file into it.

What I want is to modify the firmware to change some annoying things of the interface (e.g. to have sysex disabled by default every time you power the synth on).

And yes... a software (enhanced) version would be great ;-)
