 i theorize that there's a jinx. A kind of 'curse of the mummy' placed
on the design by Raymond Scott. i've been suspecting that gremlins
spawned by this phenomenon were hovering at Maestro Changs house and
pinching the wires shut to delay the impulses from his PSIMs.

 Perhaps the cachet of a haunted design might expand it's commercial
appeal!
