Re: [Evolver] Dead PSU

2003-09-07 by Richard

its just a standard 13v psu - you can get one from any electronics store, as far as I can tell a standard 12v works just as well - but someone may correct me on the wisdom of that!

My guess is that the best source of spares is DSI itself (or at least it would know the best source). That is bugsome about the psu though. I haven't had any external transformers die on me. My yamaha transformer from my dx100 is still chugging away after 20 years . . .

My power supply croaked suddenly yesterday. It was working fine and
then I unplugged it to move to another room. Dead when I plugged it
back in.

The Evolver still works fine (thank goodness) but my substitute power
brick is nearly as big as the Evolver itself and hesavier.

A couple of questions:

1. Any one else have a PSU fail? My Evolver was bought last October, #
173 if I recall.

2. I suspect DSI has a policy on replacing these but was wondering if
any one had run down an alternate source. I'm thinking now that having
a spare would be an excellent idea.

Thanks,

drK
