Hi Peter!

They are very different sounding synths. The Virus series is VA, the 
XT is Wavetable. The XT can do some nice VA style sounds, but the 
Virus is much better with a broader sound pallet in that department. 
The XT can do some very unique distorted wavetable type sounds that 
are very unique and inspiring. 

If you already have several VA synths (I can't remember what you 
have) then the XT might be an interesting choice for you. If you are 
looking for the big VA sound that the Virus can do then the XT 
probably is not a very good choice for you. 

The Virus you are talking about is the 1U version, not the Virus b 
tabletop, right? I suggest you consider the tabletop Virus b version 
over the 1U rack. The interface really does make a huge difference 
in using the synth.
