Well, it made sense to Dave, and let's face it, the Evolver is HIS 
synth!  ;)  

Following is his reponse to an email in which I raised the issue:

"Actually, not a bug. In the old version attack went faster with more 
mod, so now decay and release are the same polarity. It's a throw-
back to keyboard control of envelopes, where usually with a harder 
key strike you would want faster envelope times. Not always, of 
course, but it doesnt matter all that much, since you can control it 
just fine either way."

This moves the raw source file on disk only. The archive index is not changed automatically, so you still need to run a manual refresh afterward.
