Re: drones

2003-10-27 by spectralsequence

Sorry for the blank post. I just wanted to say a few words about your
drone question, as I am a drone guy: The evolver is a very complex synth, it
has a distinct sound, not typically analogue in the sense that it is rather bad
at emulating vintage analogs (MS20, etc...). The sound is not typically digital
either. It will give you excellent "electric" drones. For "organic" drones, I keep
a bunch of analog guitar pedals and some modified digital delays.
Since I recieved the evolver one year ago, It is the only synth I take with me
live. I have a Nord Micromodular that stays unemployed.
You will not regret to buy the Evolver if you are ready to program it in depth.
Possibilites are enormous.

Math Question: With the OS2 feature that the sequencers can modulate
their speeds, what is the maximal length of a non-repeating sequence
(using the 4 seqs)?
For example with OS1, you can run together 4 sequences of 11 steps, 13
steps, 14 steps, and 15 steps. If you assign the pitches cleverly, you can get
a melody of 30030 notes.

Emmanuel.
