Actually I noticed the exact same issue when I was
last trying out the Evolver sequenced from my E-mu Command Station. When I
realized that the Evolver was rolling its sequencer everytime I pressed play on
the E-mu I was peeved. I got sidetracked so did not go so far as to try and
solve the issue. My thought was whether or not I could turn off Start messages
from the E-mu itself (which would do the trick as long as I wasn't slaving any
other sequencer). I never got around to it. Sorry. Also, I kind of recall in a
situation where I wanted to sync the sequencer on the Evolver to the E-mu that I
noticed that a new Start messages was actually recieved as a "continue message
from the evolver, i.e. I would have to press reset before in order to have the
Evolver sequencer start at the beginnning. Or was I just imagining
that?

What software are you using? I wonder if it is capable of setting up
a MIDI Filter that would block such messages from being sent to the
Evo.
