Well if you go to Rane.com and look through their info sheets they 
have a schematic for a PASSIVE summing circuit that takes a stereo 
pair down to mono that doesn't bleed signal from channel A back to 
Channel B, (which screws with the impedance) its a couple of 
resistors and that's it.  I made a little 2X2 Radio shack box with it 
and that is how I take a lot of my stereo gear down to mono, it works 
great, and no appreciable signal loss

Therefore I'm guessing that if you built a pair of these you could 
combine the mono evolver L/R with a poly L/R and end up with only a 
stereo pair, but then you might get a ground loop, I dunno, 

Send the guys at Rane a tech support question, they are pretty cool 
about answering stuff that's off the wall...its worth a try
