Given the fantastic drones I am getting from my PEK, it does seem like his type of instrument.

I dont know what other gear he uses, but I do know he also has a PEK. 
The guy who sold me mine (an old friend from my record label days) just 
partnered in on a synth shop that sold him one as well.  he's not the 
type to lie about such things..
