You are not the only fan of the ms2000
Steve Roach uses it for bass and other things.

Greetings all!

This last week, I took delivery of my Poly Evolver Keyboard. I had an
original evolver a while back, but sold it because the UI just made it
to much of a pain to use.

I absolutely adore my PEK, and have already begun working on tracks
with it. In addition to the PEK, ive also got an Alesis Andromeda,
Clavia G2 and a korg MS2000BR (am I its only fan?). I used to run an
independent record lable (www.negativegain.com) but have kinda retired
from "Professional" music and now persue it more for just the joy of it.

I hope to contribute to the group where I can, and I already have a
few questions I am going to search through the archives for answers to.

Steve Roach an ms2000?? I'm amazed by that... I guess he's dumped his Obie Expanders then. How did you know that? Do you by any chance have any link for gear list of what he uses?

The guy who sold me mine (an old friend from my record label days) just

He used it to play a very nice bassline in his recent live Tucson concert, which I attended. He still predominately used his Matrix 12 and Obie Expander, which were also in evidence onstage. There are concert photos at his site, I don't know how well they show the Ms2000 as it was at the back. He also used a Doepfer-Analogue systems modular.

Given the fantastic drones I am getting from my PEK, it does seem like his type of instrument.

Well, then rewrite the filter algorithm and give the oscillators a little more
bandwidth... ;) For instance resonance can thin out the Sound until it's not
audiable anymore, FM works only with sine as carrier, it's not possible to
control the Ringmod intensity since it's AM and ready mixed with Oscillator 2 to
name a few things... ;)

If every synth were a moog then the world would be a dull place, no?

Re: [Evolver] Introduction

Well, it don't have to be a Moog, Oberheims and Arps are nice too... ;) I'm
everything but a retro gear addicted, I'm a big friend of FM Synthesizers, and
even use some softsynths, so it's just quality I like... :) Anyway, the Korg is
suited for my Outdoor activities and Computer Keyboard, so except of the Keyboard
one should handle with care, so there's no need for me to complain... :)
