I think you are confusing the thread Brooks! :) "thick" and "punchy" bass might already be two different things (which do you want?) and I think they are are certainly different things from a fast "punchy lead"... in general a thick bass will need a different kind of filter and a slower envelope IMO the evolver is not a thick, heavy sounding synth and not ideal for wieghty bass sounds, it excells at highly defined snappy sounds which sit on top of a mix IMO. Its egotistical and wants attention like a lead guitarist, which can be annoying, not happy to just sit there and support the action like a bassist :) It does bass well enough but not dark, thick sub-y sounds that you can just sit and feel beneath the music. For bass you probably want something that does "moog", the Alesis andromeda does this very well IMO (but is not necessarly the best choice for a snappy, fast razzing lead lines) Richard > I've been looking at getting an evolver for a while now.
