I have figured out what was wrong. On the x-session there is a "usb-
>midi" option. Once I set that option, everything worked perfectly. 

As for the photon x25, they suggest setting this option from your 
sequesncer software. I don't think the editor has such an option, so 
I may have to use the x-session for editing and the photon keyboard 
to trigger notes.

This moves the raw source file on disk only. The archive index is not changed automatically, so you still need to run a manual refresh afterward.
