Your brother is incorrect. Get an adapter that takes the two mono 1/4" outputs and combines them into a single stereo output and plug your stereo headphones right into it. It damages nothing. You can get such an adapter at Radio Shack in the US for about $6. I have done this myself. Typically the line out of an instrument is not powerful enough to effectively drive headphones, but such is not the case with the Evo. It's not really loud, but certainly loud enough to use headphones for portable tweaking. ~snakefooot
