I've only listened to the TI in the store, but my impression is that to
some degree the Evolver covers a similar range (e.g. neither can really
do the super-moogy stuff or quite pull off the "transistor sound"), but
the Evolver seems to be a bit more organic/dirty/quirky, and without the
insane polyphony or gobs of effects.

It's a shame that the PEK isn't in more stores because I think it
ultimately comes down to whether it feels right or not, and you really
needs some hands on time to figure that out.  [The mono-evolver is in
some ways a good introduction, but doesn't communicate the excellence of
the PEK's interface or the experience of using the Evolver sound
polyphonically.]
