But it won't damage my Evolver right?...just my mixer or speakers..correct?  Would you 
recommend a Y cable that has a 2 male mono 1/4" to female stereo connector instead?

> Thats your problem right there. You need a mixer to mix two signals - combining them 
that way can damage your gear. The "Y" cable is meant to be a splitter only, not a 
"combiner"...
