I have had absolutely no problems what so ever with the ST editor
except when using a midisport. Since i got midex interfaces, its been
smooth sailing.  I guess there are some issues with some devices and
the software

This moves the raw source file on disk only. The archive index is not changed automatically, so you still need to run a manual refresh afterward.
