Flute characteristic is without doubt interesting, but imho it's more the breath controller characteristic than the flute sound. Programming a basic flute sound isn't difficult, but it's not quite easy to program and play velocity, aftertouch, modwheel and bender in a way that it sounds as if blown. Keyboards are rather limited controllers, it's difficult to gain expressiveness from keys. Here is my modest attempt of an Evolver flute: http://www.trippler.net/files/poly/lushpoly.mp3 ----- Original Message ----- From: "electrotimba" <electrotimba@...> To: <DSI_Evolver@yahoogroups.com> Sent: Thursday, October 12, 2006 1:50 PM Subject: [Evolver] Constructing "flute" with analog OSC I personally find flute characteristic as one of most suitable for solo voices in various kind of music. Though use sometimes the "real" samples, it is even more interesting to layer or develop interesting voices starting from "flute" sctratch. Would like to know others experiences with it. Interesting links from SOS, as starting point. http://www.soundonsound.com/sos/oct03/articles/synthsecrets.htm http://www.soundonsound.com/sos/sep03/articles/synthsecrets.htm http://www.soundonsound.com/sos/aug03/articles/synthsecrets.htm
